Ancient Artefacts Thieved in Egypt

Just so the German reader does not lose sight of the wider plot in the fogscreen thrown up by blinkered local dealers: 'Kairo: Kunsträuber plündern Ägypten'. The article is written on the back of the conference 'kulturgut in Gefahr' organized by the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz, the Deutsche Archäologische Institut and the Deutsche Verband für Archäologie. Shifting the emphasis from attention-grabbing alarmism about ISIL, the article stresses that the problem is wider than just one issue ("how much money are they making"?) concerning one group in one country, but the no-questions-asked antiquities market should be seen in the context of wider global processes:
This is an aspect antiquities dealers will be anxious to play down over the coming months and one the concerned public should be made aware of.
