The PAS determined long ago that many of their partners and principle users were from social groups C2 and D. The online and other behaviour of many of them leaves that in very little doubt. The latest efflorescence of gutter behaviour from the milieu may therefore elicit no surprise. One
Jerry Punwit has started up a pro-detecting and pro-PAS blog called "Paul Barford and Friends" (
paulbarfordopinion.blogspot.co.uk ) in which he
writes abusively (
here too) about a female British academic (seems quite common in chip-on-the-shoulder UK at the moment). Masturbation, mud-wrestling and cross-dressing are other topics that seems to interest Mr mental-age-of-twelve Punewit. He is very interested in the
progress of the Portable Antiquities Scheme and the old leitmotif of artefact hunters "
finding more history than archaeologists" - which seems to link him with
Mr Jerry Warr and like the latter (but also a large number of UK metal detectorists) has a
chip on his shoulder about education. The whole pseudonymous blog reeks of tekkie attitudes of entitlement. I am sure the PAS are absolutely chuffed they have somebody like that representing their partners.
Anyone who is not another Dagenham chav (who'll not see any problem with it) should TAKE A GOOD LOOK at this behaviour,
for these are precisely the sort of people that the PAS want to grab more
and more millions of public quid to make artefact hunters into the "partners" of the
British Museum, and to whom they
want us all to entrust oversight of the exploitation of the archaeological record.
Take a good look and decide what you think about that as a "policy".
