Turkish customs inspection of semi-truck reveals artifacts slated for illegal export to Germany

Police in Edirne, Turkey, near the Bulgarian border received a tip that historical artefacts were being smuggled out of the country to Germany. They stopped a lorry at a motorway toll booth and at a customs inspection point in Kapikule they located a compartment behind the spare-parts storage area underneath the bed of the truck. In it they discovered a Roman marble head, two medieval bronze liturgical crosses, an Achaemenid gold coin, gold coins from the Classical Greek period; a coin of Vespasian, a Hellenistic silver coin and other items. This Hurriyet video shows a customs officer removing hidden artefacts from the lorry in Edirne, Turkey. nIt is not stated what happened to the lorry or its driver, or what nationality the latter was.
